From the release of the Air Jordan brand's initial basketball shoe in 1985, thanks in large part to Michael Jordan's illustrious career, the name "Air Jordan" has become virtually synonymous with basketball footwear. Nike has released a large number of successful sneaker models and colourways under the Jordan brand since then.
